Rosin Pressing Bubble Hash

I made some bubble hash from left over plant material I had. Pretty much all of it was trim and regular leaf. I did the regular bubble hash method with the bags and ice. I have heard of great returns from pressing hash so I had to try rosin pressing bubble hash.

Tools Used:

Bubble hash bags similar to this on Amazon
DIY Caged Press Plates Kit – Build 12-20 Ton Rosin Press
20 Ton Hydraulic Harbor Freight Press

Material:

Low quality trim with small bits of flower and plain leaf.
20lb Bag of Ice
Micron Mesh Bags (inverted corners)

Bubble Hash Process:

It was just like a normal process. You can find tutorials on YouTube. To summarize it is just frozen weed, thrown with ice and water inside of a 5 gallon bucket. Mixed for about 15 mins then strained thru each bag. The hash was pressed with a shirt to remove most of the water content. It was then grinded up and left to dry for 2 days on a plate. After the 2 days the hash was then collected into the micron mesh bags. I did not have the correct micron bags so I did have some hash fall thru and get into the rosin.

Temperature of Rosin Press:

180 @ 2 mins
I split the material into a few micron mesh bags. The return was very nice and I was able to press it twice at this temperature until the return slowed down.
190 @ 2 mins
Return was pretty decent, and the bag was just pressed once.
210 @ 2 mins
Return was still good, and I ended up pressing this bag twice with the same settings.
220 @ 2 mins
Return same as the rest pretty good, and I pressed this bag twice.

Summary:

All of the wax came out dark. I was reading that this was due to the hash being from old and dried plant material. However it was still good wax to dab. Gets you high and tasted great. After pressing the bags twice the returns slowed down. It seems like a repress was worth it, but no more after that.

This photo below is not the exact return, but it is from my recent batch. When dabbed the flavor is okay and the high is still great.

This is probably the best return I have gotten while pressing anything. I yield about 60% return from my bubble hash. I have tried pressing hash made via the dry ice method; however, the fats and oils must not have extracted with the hash, because there was no return rosin pressing dry ice hash.

* Update* Use RO water to avoid chlorine taste in wax
